Brother Richard James Beach
Brother Richard James Beach, 13192 US 223, Manitou Beach, MI 49253, passed away July 18, 2011, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility, Adrian, MI. He was born Oct. 9, 1925, in Adrian. On May 30, 1957, he married Liela Marie LaPlaunt, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 1988. On Feb. 17, 1996, he married Gloria Gaige-Hamann in Hillsdale, and she survives. Richard joined SUVCW Nash-Hodges Camp No. 43 in Blissfield in 1993, based on the service of his grandfather, Pvt. James White, Co. B, 11th Michigan Cavalry.
Richard served in the U.S. Army Air Forces from 1944-1945, during World War II. Richard retired from Wyman Gordon Corporation in Jackson where he was a machine repairman. In addition to the SUVCW, Richard was a member of the Onsted American Legion Durkee-Seager Post #550, the Onsted Kiwanis and the Moose and Eagles in Jackson.
Brother Beach is survived by his wife, Gloria, his children, James Beach of Manitou Beach, Bonnie (Dennis) Gwinnup of St. Charles, Ill., Danniel (Karen) Hamann of Adrian, Cindy Hamann of Jackson and Kevin (Sherry) Hamann of Napoleon; two granddaughters, a great-grandson, and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Burial was at Maple Shade Cemetery in Onsted with full military rites conducted by the Onsted American Legion Durkee-Seager Post #550.
